20120517-img_2652 Last night I gave an intro to 8 people. They all did very well at the intro WOD, and nobody even predicted they would do 15 rounds! The rest of it went pretty well (some of the attendees may even be reading this), which mostly means that I didn’t get TOO distracted while I yammered on and on about how great CrossFit is, and it also means that nobody left during my (extended) speech.

As anyone who’s gone through one of my intros knows, I tend to talk a fair amount about whatever comes to mind that I think will help people understand what this thing called CrossFit is all about. I have never had a script for the bulk of my talk (nor will I ever create one), though there are a few things that I make sure to say in every intro. One of those things (which I believe is the most important) is when I volunteer all of the CFMC members up to answer any questions they might have that they may not want to ask the guy who owns the place. In other words, they may want a straight answer from a normal person rather than a card-carrying CrossFit Zealot.

Of course, they never get a chance to ask any of you anything because, well, I never shut up. So by the time I finally let them leave, the gym is long since empty.

So today’s post is your opportunity to tell prospective members what you would say if they came up to you after a WOD and asked you about the gym. How would you describe this place? What would you tell them about your experiences? How about what CrossFit has done for you in general? What have you accomplished since you’ve been here? Why did you become a member in the first place? Why are you still a member? These are the things (I imagine) people would like to know.

by Tai May 16, 2012

Since you got Part 1 the other day, I figure it only makes sense to give you all of what I wrote last year about how stupid the CrossFit Games are. Last week I wrote something called “The CrossFit Games Are Stupid,” where I briefly discussed how the CrossFit Games seem stupid to people who [...]

Stam·i·na: Noun; The ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort In the Week 1 post I talked about how to program out your week between the CFMC WODs and these CF Endurance WODs. I said that if you were trashed from a tough week at the gym you could get away with not doing [...]

You may or may not have heard rumors that we may or may not be moving soon. Well let me put those rumors to rest. We are, in fact, moving soon. September, to be specific. We signed the lease on a beautiful new space a couple weeks ago, and are now biding our time until [...]

Hope. I bet you expected a link to that famous Journal article or Fitness in 100 words. Nope – not today. You should all know that by now, anyway (and if not, refresh your memory by clicking the link). Today is about what CrossFit has become to many. Something beyond a badass fitness regime or [...]

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that this past weekend was the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships for the 2012 CrossFit Games. And since I found myself in a judging role that had me on the floor for every single heat (which was pretty cool, actually), I have no idea who was able to [...]
